Clarke h...I have found this to be true for years. Clarke had suffered an injury, which contributed to his development of this method, through which he was able to recover all his strength and endurance. I have also practiced until my chops were "blown", only to find the right medicine in Clarke's prescription to play ppp. "The principle is the same as with medicine, where a few drops will cure but a tablespoon will kill." (paraphrase.) For some reason, it seems that the above idea was removed from some later editions of Clarke's Technical Studies.
